Kanni (means maiden), is a rare indigenous South Indian dog breed found in Tamil Nadu state. This variety of dog is considered to be a further extension of the Caravan Hound. Tirunelveli, Kovilpatti, Kazhugumalai, Kileral, Kodangipatti, Sivakasi and Madurai are the common places where Kanni’s are found. They are used mainly for hunting and are found in brown, cream, black and tan and brindle in colours. The video is a shot taken from the Dog Show held at Palakkad district in Kerala.
