Step Wells: the architectural brilliance, Abhaneri
Abhaneri, the city of brightness, is well known for 'Baoris'(step wells), which are the unique invention of the natives for harvesting rain water. Situated in front of Harshat Mata Temple in Abhaneri is the colossal step well, Chand Baori. It is one of India's deepest and oldest step wells.
Baoris are big tanks used to cool places and water reservoir during hot days and is a unique concept of India. This huge tank with delicate carvings is certainly delightful to the eyes to the travelers. Abhaneri is in the state of Rajasthan, once known as the Land of the Kings.
