Literally meaning “calculation instrument”, Jantar Mantar in Jaipur, Rajasthan state of India, is a World Heritage Site showcasing a collection of architectural astronomical instruments. An observatory with religious significance, Jantar Mantar consists of fourteen major geometric devices for measuring time, predicting eclipses, tracking stars' locations and more such scientific calculations.

The site was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II at his then new capital of Jaipur between 1727 and 1734.
