It is the Old Jaipur city where one can find the buildings representing the bygone era. The Old City (the Pink City) is a great place to wander around. The whole city buildings and palaces were painted in Pink colour by Maharaja Man Singh II. Even today, every home within the city is obliged by law to maintain its facade.

It is a very well planned city and was designed by a young Bengali engineer and scholar named Vidyadhar Bhattacharya.
