Velankanni Church is one of the famous pilgrim centers in south India. It is situated in Nagapattinam district, a couple of hundred km away from Chennai, Tamil Nadu state of India. This place is popular for the Basilica dedicated to ‘Our Lady of health’.

Thousands of devotees visit this church as they believe that the blessing of ‘Our Lady of health’ will cure all diseases. This is a Roman Catholic Church and was built in the Gothic style of architecture.

There is an extended Basilica in which you can find the statue of Jesus Christ. Also there is a museum in this church opposite the Basilica which has a rare collection of exhibits. The Pope has already declared this place as a ‘holy city’.
