Mughal art and architecture is a characteristic of Indo-Islamic-Persian style that flourished in India during the reign of Mughal Empire. The Taj Mahal and its entrance are good examples of this type of architecture.
Agra city is known as the city of Taj Mahal. The Taj one of the famous destinations among the travel lovers and one of the seven wonders of the world. It is a monument to love, built by Shah Jehan for his consort Begum Mumtaz Mahal (the Lady of the Taj).
The entrance of Taj Mahal itself is a beautiful monument made of red sand stone. The front wall is decorated with the inscriptions in ‘Thulth’ script. The sides of the entrance are surrounded by small rooms. On the top of this building some Koranic texts are inscribed in black letters.
At the top there is a row of white marble domes and the corners are crowned by open domed kiosks.
