The Jhansi Rani Fort (Jhansi Fort), located upon the Bangara hills was built by Raja Bir Singh Deo of Orchha. It is built on a hillock and is surrounded by three massive and fortified stone walls up to eight feet thick and up to thirty feet high.
The fort stands as a mute witness to the valor of the Queen Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi popularly known as Jhansi ki Rani. The famous Karak Bijli used for the freedom struggle of 1857 is preserved within the fort. One can also see the Grave of Gulam Gaus Khan, Panch Mahal and the two famous temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Ganesha inside the fort.
Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh is the gateway to Bundelkhand and is a unique travel destination which has to tell a lot about the freedom struggle of India.
