Ever since the Tatas decided to build their Nano car plant in Singur, there has been opposition on the ground acquiring land for it. Tata chief Ratan Tata recently met Chief Minister Buddadeb Battacharya to discuss the issue. But the meeting failed to convince the Tatas to stay on and build the factory in the face of stiff political opposition. Later Tata addressed media persons and said three or four other states have come forward with offers of land for the project and that the Tatas will come out with the Nano as per the committed time.
