Kalamandalam Gopi in an interview with Raghu P on Kalluvazhi chitta of Kathakali

Kalluvazhi chitta, is a school of Kathakali formulated by Pattikkamthodi Ravunni Menon and promoted through his disciples, Kalamandalam Padmanabhan Nair and Kalamandalam Ramankutty Nair. Later it evolved into ‘Kalamandalam style or school’. I was trained in that Kalamandalam style. I am not the right person to speak about it. Later
I developed my own style. Kathakali is fundamentally “Natyadharmi” (stylized acting, more classical). I have added a component of ‘Lokadharmi’ (non-stylised, realistic) into that.
