Amar Prem - 1971
Set in the streets of Calcutta, the 1971 released Amar Prem is the story of three innocent lives why by circumstances come near each other and is bound by the thread of unconditional love. Noted for its sensuous and haunting melody, the film’s songs are still popular in India.
Music by R. D Burman and lyrics by Anand Bakshi, the evergreen songs from Amar Prem are “Chingari koi bhadke”, “Kuchh toh log kahenge” and “Raina beeti jaye”.
Starring Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna in lead roles, the movie is directed by Shakti Samanta. The film is based on the Bengali Story “Hinger Kochuri” written by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay.
