Raj Kapoor was often appreciated by film critics and historians as Charlie Chaplin of Indian cinema. Films like Barsaat, Awaara, Shree 420, Chori Chori, Jagte Raho and Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai helped him to establish this image.
In the film Anari, released in the year 1959, also Raj Kapoor keeps the same image. The film was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Other cast includes Nutan, Motilal and Lalita Pawar. One of the interesting things about the film is that Lalita Pawar, who used to appear in negative roles, comes in the film in a positive role.
Music of the team was the joined effort Shankar Jaikishan and Hasrat Jaipuri. Some of the hit songs include "Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Se" "Woh Chand Khila Woh Tare" "Dil Ki Nazar Se."
