Set against the Indo-China war of 1962, the 1964 released Haqeeqat is a war film directed by Chetan Anand. A propagandist film, Haqeeqat promotes the nationalist sentiments in the backdrop of Sino-Indian war. The film stars Balraj Sahni, Dharmendra and Priya Rajvansh in lead roles.
The film has been successfully pictureised the difficulties of soldiers holding forward positions in harsh and inhospitable terrain of Ladakh. Shot mostly on location in Ladakh, the art director of the film was M.S. Sathyu and cinematographer Sadanand Sengupta.
Music by Madan Mohan and the lyrics by Kaifi Azmi, the song “Kar Chale Hum Fida, Jaano Tan Saathiyon, Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyon,” sung by Mohammed Rafi is now one of the patriotic songs in India.
