Theyyam performance

Theyyam is a ritualistic dance of Kerala, predominant in the northern region called Malabar. Besides the usual make-up for Theyyam, this particular performer has his body adorned with tender coconut leaves. With loud chantings during the climax stages of the performance, the Theyyam performer jumps on top of a huge bonfire. The performer would get up without any issues of burn, because of his changed and elevated state of mind, which eventually makes him as a medium of God.
