First day of Ramzaan observed

Ramzaan preaches the message of peace and harmony among people besides inculcating a spirit of self abstinence. This year also Muslims in Srinagar started the Ramzaan observance by offering prayers or Namaz on the first day of the month of Ramzaan. Muslims from all strata of society gathered in local madarasas to offer prayers at the beginning of their fast. The authorities also helped on the occasion by lifting curfew in some parts of the region.
