Kutiyattam-Part-6

Kutiyattam is a traditional dance form which originated in Kerala around 2000 years ago. It is a unique performance in which a single performer alone portrays all the characters in a play. Kailasodharanam is a part in Ramayana which deals with the lifting of Mount Kailasa, the abode of Lord Shiva, by the demon King Ravana, the ruler of Lanka.

Ravana, seeing his path blocked by Mount Kailasa lifts it out of the way. At the same time a conversation was going on between Lord Shiva and his spouse Goddess Parvathi. In this video you can see the Kutiyattam performance by Kalamandalam Sivan Namboodiri as Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi.

The DVD is developed by Invis Multimedia and is available at http://www.cultureshoppe.com/products/kutiyattam-kailasodharanam-performance-by-kalamandalam-sivan-namboodiri.php
