Arattu, Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple, Thiruvananthapuram

The Arattu of Lord Padmanabha held during Painkuni festival of Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple at Shanghumugham beach, Thiruvananthapuram. During arattu (holy bath) ritual deities are taken out in procession to the ceremonial bathing ghat (Shanghumugham beach), in accompaniment to music and regalia. The King of Travancore – Sri Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda Varma , as the vassal of Sri Padmanabha Swamy accompanies the procession in humble servitude.
