Archaeological Museum in Sanchi

Located on a hilltop in Sanchi, a small village is the archaeological museum established in 1919, by Sir John Marshall, former Director General of ASI (Archaeological Survey of India). Sanchi in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh state in India is famous for its Buddhist monuments.

The museum has four main galleries and one can come across various objects ranging in date from 3rd B.C to medieval period. The objects aesthetically displayed in the gallery represents the six cultural eras such as Maurya, Sunga, Satvahana, Kushana, Gupta and post Gupta era.
