Government honours actors for contribution to Indian cinema

The Indian government has honoured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Akshay Kumar with prestigious civilian award Padma Shree for their contribution to the world of cinema. Aishwarya, a former Miss World, has floored the audiences with her performances in many films in both India and abroad. The Padma awards, given by the Indian government were announced on the occasion of country's 60th Republic Day.
