Ganesh Chaturthi begins

Mumbai is famous for its Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The ten day long festival is a hugely popular annual event marking the celebration of the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha. Devotees collect idols of Lord Ganesha and return home by local train to organize ritual prayers at their homes. People consider it auspicious to carry home the idols by local trains.
