Lord Ganesh idols for Ganesh Chathurthi festival, Mumbai

Ganesh Chathurthy with its festivities and long arrays of Lord Ganesh idols in procession is a prominent and colourful festival of Mumbai. But this year idol makers are anxious. The skyrocketing cost of raw materials for making the idols, the climbing labour costs and hikes in transportation are making the idols costly. The idol makers have no option but to mark up the prices of Ganesh idols. However, the processions and immersion of Lord Ganesh’s idols will occur as usual despite the heavy inputs.
