Ajanta Cave No.16, Aurangabad

This is the 16th Cave in Ajanta. The verandah of cave was earlier supported by two pilasters and six plain octagonal columns with bracket capitals; but all except one are gone. Female figures surmount the pilasters on either side of the door. The shrine has a gigantic statue of Buddha in the teaching position. Ajanta caves situated at Aurangabad in Maharashtra is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
