Sound of Makudi

Can snakes hear sounds? It is a question that couldn't be answered easily. But snake charmers carry a special musical wind-instrument called the Makudi or pungi and it is believed that the snakes dance as per the tune of music played by the charmer using Makudi. Actually snakes are deaf and they weave and move according to the movement of Makudi for a chance to strike at the makudi blower.
