Madurai Meenakshi Temple, Tamilnadu

Madurai Meenakshi Temple situated in Tamilnadu state of India is a popular pilgrim centre dedicated to Goddess Parvathy in the form of Meenakshi with Lord Shiva in the form of Sundareswarar or Beautiful Lord. 

This video features Meenakshi temple, which is around 2500 years old. The temple was originally built by Kulasekara Pandya and the structure as it is now was erected by the Nayakas, who ruled Madurai from 16th to 18th century.
 
The architectural style of this temple is specific and traditional. There are 14 magnificent towers attached to the temple. There are four entrances facing four directions, a unique specialty of this temple. 

You can see different rituals performed by the devotees from all over the country who are extremely devoted to the deity of the temple. You can see an elephant blessing a child which is also a ritual of the temple.
