An Anganwadi or child-care centre in Tripura

Anganwadis are the government sponsored child-care centres in India. The name Anganwadi is a Hindi word which means ‘courtyard shelter’. This project was started by the Indian government in 1975 as part of the Integrated Child Development Services programme to combat child hunger and malnutrition.

The objectives of this Anganwadi Centres (AWC) are to cater to the needs of the developing children in the age group of 3-6. The main aims of the implementation of Anganwadis are giving proper health care and non-formal pre-education.
