Lathmar Holi celebrations in Nandgaon, Uttar Pradesh

Women in Nandgaon town of Uttar Pradesh celebrated the 'Lathmar Holi' by beating the revelers with sticks, as they start the celebrations for the Hindu festival of colours, Holi. The Lathmar Holi is also a curtain raiser for the festival that would be celebrated on March 11 this year. Nandgaon town celebrates this festival in this unique style a day after Barsana town celebrates. Men and women dressed in traditional costumes spray colours at each other. The revelers sung folk songs and danced in groups to celebrate the legendary 'Rasaleela' or romance of Lord Krishna with Radha.
