Holi, the festival of colours in Varanasi

With the vibrant spring festival of Holi round the corner, people in the holy city of Varanasi offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and usher the colourful event in a gala manner. The devotees prayed before Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati and then commenced playing with colours. People took out a procession singing songs and chanting hymns of Lord Shiva. Enroute, people in the procession sprayed colours and exchanged greetings.
