Nakhoda Mosque, Kolkata

Nakhoda Mosque in Kolkata (Calcutta), West Bengal state of India, is the biggest mosque within the city. It is located in Zakaria Street (Jacquaria Street) near Mahatma Gandhi Road in the city.

The foundation stone of this mosque was laid in 1926 by Abdar Rahim Osman, a resident of Cutch. It is built in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture and resembles Akbar's tomb in Sikandra.

Being the largest, the mosque can accommodate around 10,000 persons. There is also a huge prayer hall inside the mosque. The mosque is well-decorated and illuminated during festivals associated with the Muslim religion.
