Straw hut in Shantiniketan

The Straw hut in Shantiniketan near Kolkata (Calcutta), West Bengal state, India was erected by Ram Kinger. He was a famous sculptor in Bengal, who had made many statues. The famous statue of an elephant and a baby, near elephant pool in Kolkata, was made by Ram Kinger.

This hut was sculptured in the model of a traditional hut used by the villagers in Bengal. It is one of the most attractive places in santiniketan. Also it is a major tourist destination in Kolkata.
