Sanskrit name: Nirgundi, Neelamanjari
English name: Five leaved chest tree

With the differences in colours of the leaves and flowers, there are three kinds of plants under the same family- viz. Karinochi, Vellanochi and Attunochi. Bathing in the water boiled with the leaves of Karinochi alleviates arthritis and rheumatism.

Leaves of Karinochi, thazhuthama, karuka, manithakkali, mukkutti and thottavadi ground together to a fine paste and diluted with water (if necessary) is a good oral medicine for cancer.

Karuka: Bermuda grass(Cyndon dactylon)
Manithakkali or Mulaku thakkali: Garden night shade (Solanum nigrum)
Mukkutti: Biophytum sensitivum
Thottavadi:Touch-me-not (Mimosa pudica)
