Janmabhoomi - 1936

The box office hit, Janmabhoomi released in 1936 was produced by Bombay Talkies. Directed by Franz Osten and music of the film was by Saraswati Devi. Ashok Kumar and Devika Rani did the lead roles.

A nationalistic theme – class conflicts in villages. Well directed film. The director Franz Osten had joined the Nazi party in India during the making of the film. The hero and the heroine working for the well being of the villagers and succeeds in bringing class harmony. Several naturalistic songs including the “Jai Jai Janmabhoomi…”. A film that contributed to Gandhian principles.
