Nangiarkoothu (Kamsa Vadham) - Part III

Nangiarkoothu is a Sanskrit theatrical art form. This art form is an allied art of Kutiyattam, two millennia old dance form and has been recognized by UNESCO as one of the ‘Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity’.
Nangiarkoothu is the sole domain of female artistes known as Nangiars, the female members of the Chakiyar community.

Nagiarkoothu, ‘Kamsa Vadham’, performance is based on the classic text Sree Krishna Charitham – a depiction of Lord Krishna’s life and deeds. Enacted here is an important episode from the text, Kamsa Vadham (The Killing of Kamsa). Performing here is Margi Sathi, an accomplished artiste of Nangiarkoothu.
