Symphony Celestial Part 5, Nangiarkoothu

Nangiarkoothu, the1500 years old dance form is a branch of Kutiyattam and is a solo performance based on the stories from Hindu epics. It is mostly performed by the Nangiars, the female members of the Chakiyar community.

This video features the play Kamsa Vadham which portrays the killing of Kamsa, the uncle of Lord Krishna. The story is taken from Sree Krishna Charitam which depicts the life of Lord Krishna.

The play is performed by Margi Sati, a renowned artiste with over three decades of experience in Kutiyattam and Nagiarkoothu. She is associated with the Margi theatre in Thiruvananthapuram.
