Theyyam Part 3

Theyyam, one of the outstanding dance forms of Kerala is performed as a temple ritual especially in northern parts of Kerala. The word Theyyam is derived from the Malayalam word Daivam which means God. There are more than 400 kinds of Theyyams in northern Kerala. Of these Raktha Chamundi, Kari Chamundi, Muchilottu Bhagavathi, Wayanadu Kulaveni, Gulikan and Pottan are the most spectacular.

This ritual dance is performed mostly in Malabar in the districts of Kannur and Kasaragod. This video presents different forms of Theyyam performed in temples in the Malabar area.
