About 'Parunthaattam- the Eagle Dance'

Parunthaattam is a folk art form commonly found in central Travancore. The word literally means “dance of the eagle” and signifying this, the dancers wear the masks of eagles and dance to the tune of Parayan Chenda, a folk drum.

The themes of the dance are mostly taken from folk tales. The victory of good over evil is exemplified in the dance, by describing the stories of the great heroes of yesteryears.
