The video is of a class at the Institute of Mural Painting in Guruvayur. Started in 1989, the institute is run by the Guruvayur Devaswom, the managing authority of the Guruvayur temple. The founder-principal of the institute was Mammiyoor Krishnankutty Nair, a doyen of the Kerala style of mural painting.

The institute functions in the traditional Gurukula system and offers a five year diploma course. Mural painting, art history, aesthetics, Sanskrit, Silpa texts, Dhyanasloka etc. are included in the curriculum. Exhibitions, workshops, seminars, discussions and study tours are also conducted.

The institute is located near the eastern entrance of the Guruvayur temple. The temple, an important pilgrim centre of South India, is in the Thrissur district of Kerala.
