The church fiesta of Arthunkal

Arthunkal is a small village near the town of Alappuzha, in the Alappuzha district of Kerala, South India. The mainstay of this village’s economy is fishing.

The Arthunkal St. Andrew’s Forane Church was built in the 16th century by the Portuguese, and the patron saint of the church is Saint Sebastian.

The annual church feast of Arthunkal, celebrated for eleven days in the month of January, is a big crowd puller, attracting people from other religions also, besides Christians.
