Ceremonial Arattu procession of Lord Padamanbha

The 'Arattu' procession of Lord Padmanabha of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple to Shanghumugham beach, Thiruvananthapuram.  There are two such festivals every year, one takes place in the Malayalam month of Thulam (October-November), known as Alpassi Utsavam and the other in Meenam (March-April) known as Painkuni Utsavam. 

The arattu procession which begins from the temple in the evening, will pass through the Fort area and through the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport’s runway before culminating at the ‘arattu mandapam’ near Shanghumugham beach.
