About 'Elamkavu aattuvela - a riverside temple festival'

Elamakvu Aattuvela is the festival of the Elamkavu Temple at Vadayar near Vaikom, Kottayam district occuring annually during April. The main attraction of the festival is the procession of canoes carrying a huge replica of the temple down the river. The myth behind this practice is the belief that the goddess of Kodungalloor, visits her sister, the Goddess of Elamkavu every year.
