The St. Mary's Church at Champakkulam in Alappuzha district of Kerala is a major pilgrim centre. This is believed to be one of the seven churches established by St. Thomas in Kerala.

Palm Sunday or Oshana Perunnal is celebrated on a large scale here. Hundreds of devotees take part in the ceremonial procession carrying palm fronds.

The annual feast here falls on the third Sunday of October. Another feast celebrated here is the Feast of St. Joseph on March 19th.
