About 'Ezhunnallippu or procession at Akliyathu Shiva Temple'

This video presents the Ezhunnallippu or procession is held as part of the annual festival of Akliyathu temple in Kannur district. In this, the image of the deity is taken out on top of a caparisoned elephant. Other elephants and percussions accompany the procession.

Akliyathu Shiva temple is located at Azhikode, Kannur district, Kerala. Built in traditional Kerala style of temple architecture, the temple has exquisite wooden carvings. The annual Vishu Vilakku festival celebrated here is a grand affair.


The nine- day long festival celebrated in the month of April is marked by rituals like Vishukkani (viewing auspicious things), Seeveli, and Panchavadya performances. The festival concludes with Arattu (holy bath) of the deities.
