About 'Chirakkal – eco-friendly weaving'

Chirakkal, a village in Kannur district, is famous for its handloom industry. A wide range of Kaithari (handloom products) including furnishings, made-ups, mats, terry towels, seer succer, tucks and double cloths are being produced here. The production process is a traditional one using handloom machines and are eco-friendly. Recently, silk weaving has also been introduced here.
