Pookot lake is the only natural freshwater lake in Kerala, located on the Western Ghats. At 2100 metres above sea level, it is a tourist paradise. The lake is surrounded by tall trees and dense forests.

Boating facilities, a children's park and a spices and handicrafts emporium add to the attraction of the place. A freshwater aquarium with a large variety of fishes is another feature.
