The magnificent Arakkalkettu Muslim Palace Museum

Arakkal or Arackkal Palace is an old wrecked building complex located about 3 km from Kannur in Kerala, India. It was the home of the Arakkal Ali Rajas, the only Muslim royal family in Kerala and the rulers of Malabar region. During their regime the power to rule was vested in the female member of the family called Arakkal Beevi, especially if she happened to be senior to the male member in the family.

Arakkal Palace covers an area of 2.11 hectares. The complex comprises residential buildings, mosques, a durbar hall and a bell-tower at the entrance.

Arakkal Palace is now a protected monument under the Archaeological Department of Kerala.
