About 'Bavali river near Kottiyur'

The Bavali river flows through the dense forests of Kannur district.

The river has got religious importance since the famed temples of Kottiyur are located on its banks.

The ancient temples, Akkare Kottiyur and Ikkare Kottiyur, located on either sides of the river are noted for special rituals.

Kottiyur is believed to be the place where Dakshayagam was held.

Devotees consider it auspicious to take a bath in the river before visiting the temples.
