Featured in this video are the sacred eighteen steps (patinettam pati) leading to the sanctum sanctorum of the Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala, situated in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, India. Sabarimala is one of the best known pilgrim centres in South India and is often visited by a countless number of devotees throughout the year.

Pilgrims visiting Sabarimala can only reach the temple by climbing these eighteen steps, which are believed to be most sacred. Devotees break coconuts and climb the steps praising Lord Ayyappa.
