Sunil Gangopadhay was born on 7th September 1934. He is a Bengali writer known for his unique prose style. He is one of the most celebrated Bengali poets and novelists.

Rokto, Arjun Jeeban Je Rakam, Pratham Alo, Pratidwandi, Kakababu and Ardhek Manobi are his major novels. His popular poetry works are Nikhilesh (For You, Neera) and Neera (Murmur in the Woods).
