The Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka are located in the foothills of the Vindhyan Mountains, in the State of Madhya Pradesh in India. Also known as Bhima’s Lounge, it is one of the most visited places in the State. It is also a World Heritage Site reckoned by the UNESCO.

Featured here are the Rock Shelters 1 and 2, which can be considered as an archaeological treasure of ancient India. These shelters are noted for the drawings and inscriptions that tell about the life and times of pre-historic cave-dwellers.
