Sri. Sanjay Subrahmanyan, Carnatic Vocalist

This video shows the performance of an aalaap by Sri. Sanjay Subrahmanyan, a south Indian born Carnatic music vocalist, at the Swathi Sangeethotsavam (Swathi Music Festival) held in the Kuthira Malika Palace at East Fort in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India.

Swathi Sangeethotsavam or Swathi Music Festival is a week-long festival of music celebrating the compositions of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal. The festival is held in the month of January every year in the courtyard of Kuthira Malika Palace at East Fort, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.

The aalaap is based on the Raaga: Panthuvarali. Accompanying him is Sri. Nagai Muraleedharan on the Violin, Sri. P. Satheesh Kumar on the Mridangam, Sri. Manjoor Unnikrishnan on the Ghatam and Sri. Payyannur T. Govindaprasad on the Morsingh or Jew’s Harp. Swati Kritis are jewels of compositions in the Carnatic music world.
