Giant Milkweed

Botanical name - Calotropis gigantean
Family - Asclepidaceae

A shrub growing up to 2.5m. The extract of its bark is very effective against eczema and other skin diseases. For itching disease in between toes the latex of this plant is applied. Powder of leaves applied over wounds ulcers and old sores. Poultice of slightly roasted leaves applied over inflammatory swellings, rheumatic joint etc. leaf juice is applied in skin diseases. A paste of charcoal prepared from the roots with some bland oil is applied over skin diseases and leprosy. Milky juice of the plant is also used in leprosy and ringworm of scalp. Dried flowers given in leprosy.
