A small tree common in Western Ghats. The roots are bitter, acrid, vulnerary, liver tonic and stomachic. They are useful in conditions of vata, diabetes, leprosy, and skin diseases, colic.

The essential oil has antimicrobial anthelmintic anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activity. Others have shown. Main use of stamen has been described for controlling bleeding in menorrhagia and piles.

Oil is used to treat skin diseases and its local application is also recommended in rheumatism.
